Snowy Arc

In the wintertime, in the snow country, citrus fruit was so rare, and if you got one, it was better than ambrosia.

~James Earl Jones

I came across this quote tonight and thought it was fitting for the cold snap we are in. Living in the north east I am used to it. I feel for the people who live in the citrus growing states on the east coast. The damage both environmental and economical to the farmers will take a long time to recover.

The image I thought fit into the arc and cold category. I applied the dry brush filter and a frame. Now I need to get out and get some more shots to work on for the coming week.

Al, I love the arc and think you were very clever to shoot this on an angle (or crop it that way).

Now this is outstanding, love the arch and the way the thick snow frames the top – the details are great, Al, really nice eye for seeing this!

The delicate bristles on the grass at the bottome are a good counterweight to the thick blanket of snow on top.

Fits the theme’s perfectly, it does seem to have a blueish color cast to it too, done deliberately?

Wow, what a capture, Al. This is my kind of photo. I love the depth of snow on the beards. How light and fluffy it must be to stack up like that.
Here in central California the farmers often use wind machines to help circulate air when the air gets below freezing.
Great photo and would make an awesome enlargement.

Is it your normal practice to hibernate around now Bruno?

Nicely composed, a perfect arc of what must be a strong grass to bend and not flatten.

Very nice arc! wonderful composition. I’m afraid it’s not only the citrus but our poor manatees, turtles and other a bunch of other animals are in real trouble here in Florida.

What an interesting image. I love how you were able to catch the grass bent over with the snow lightly resting on it. Nice shot and a great capture of two themes!

Realy nice shot. Did you shoot this shot on the angle on which it is? I think it would also work on the straight horizon.
